DJ Insurance - What to Consider

If you are a DJ, have you considered what insurance cover you might need? It doesn't matter whether you are a full time DJ or do it as a part time job, DJ insurance is something that you should think about getting. Some of the insurance types that might be right for you are explained below.

Public liability insurance will pay out if property is damaged or a member of the public is injured because of your actions. This needn't only apply for those working at a big venue - accidents can happen anytime, and you don't want to be paying for them out of your own pocket.    The payment received from this policy could cover compensation, legal fees and even the cost of the NHS treatment of the injured party;
Employers' liability insurance may be required by law if you have someone who helps you with your DJing. This protects you and them in the event that they are injured or suffer loss or damage to property while engaged in their work;
Instrument & equipment cover could be essential, as without your equipment, you won't be able to DJ!

For many DJs, finding a suitable DJ insurance policy that covers them properly for all the situations listed can be difficult. Some insurers will not insure DJs at all, believing that the nature of the work leaves them exposed to an increased risk of large claims being made, and others have policies that are not flexible enough to allow for the changes in circumstances that frequently occur in Dingo. However, there are companies who specialise in DJ insurance and they could be able to find a policy that suits you, meaning that you and your DJing business are properly protected.
